Sabel - Fadental - Walster - Hubertussee - Mariazell

From the church square in Annaberg, head west down through the ravine and, a short distance below the bend in the federal highway, turn left onto Schmelz. At the edge of town (across from the fire station), turn right onto Koteau and head uphill toward the houses “Am Sabel.” Continue over the saddle at the “Sabelstuben” (1,066 m above sea level) and down the roads to Fadental (899 m above sea level). From here, take a short detour to the left along the access road past the inn, then turn right onto the sandy road leading into the Dolomitgrund at “Schnittlermoos.” Continue along the trail to Lake Hubertus in the “Walster.” Here, follow the road to the right, through the rock cut to the bridge over the dam, and continue right on the road toward Rechengraben. At the next houses, turn right into the Sattelgraben and then left uphill, following the red trail markers (No. 692), to a gravel road; take this road to the right toward the Habertheuersattel (1,015 m above sea level). Continue left onto the Bürgeralpe and descend by cable car or on foot directly into the center of Mariazell.
