Details for: Wienerbruck - Kohlerhöhe - Hintere Tormäuer - Wienerbruck
Brief description
Scenically impressive, varied route with a cave, gorge, and a waterfall!
Description
The starting point for this scenically impressive tour is the Ötscher base in Wienerbruck, which is also an ideal place to stop for refreshments before or after the hike. The public journey with the Mariazellerbahn is particularly suitable due to the nearby stop in Wienerbruck.
After a short stretch along the Wienerbruck reservoir, the trail continues along paths and forest roads through a secluded forest before reaching the road towards Erlaufboden. The Hintere Tormäuer begin at the Erlaufboden Nature Park entrance - an imposing gorge with high, jagged rock faces formed by the waters of the Erlauf. Past the mysterious entrance to the Gamsluckenhöhle cave, accompanied by the turquoise-blue river, you penetrate further and further into the impressive, pristine nature until you reach the Wienerbruck power station. A detour to the turbine hall of the show power station is definitely worthwhile! As you climb up a path, with the Lassing Falls always in view, you can tap into your last reserves of energy before returning to the Ötscher base and recharging your batteries at the Seegasthaus.
