Annaberger Kreuzweg

Description

In 1973, Prof. Sepp Gamsjäger created the ANNABERGER KREUZWEG with 14 panels, which, starting in the Annaberg parish church, was shown in more than 80 places of worship. (Monotype is a technique in which the image is painted on a glass plate and pressed onto paper while still wet. The colors and outlines flow; the essentials are recognizable and there is plenty of room for the imagination). The violet color is the liturgical color of Lent and Passiontide. By mixing it with green in places, a dirty tone is created; disorder and filth symbolize the color of sin. The Evil One is painted in red. The original pictures were fired onto enamel plates and placed in 14 picture frames along the "Via Sacra" and lead us to the parish church of Annaberg. The picture frame symbolizes the body of Christ. The nails stand for the crucifixion and the suffering of Christ, they pierce the body of the Savior. The picture is supported by three pillars, which represent faith, hope and love (Cor. 13:13).
